Team Depth Ladders
A depth chart where depth means something. Players are placed on a seven-tier ladder based on their production, revealing the quality and depth at each position.
Columns are positions, rows are tiers. The right edge counts the team's players in each tier against the league average. Hover a name for his production value.
Every player ranked by production value, best to tenth-best, against the league's typical team. The shaded band is the middle half of the league.
Value of each team's top five players against its next five. Select a dot to load that team.
Rosters. Past seasons show the end-of-season roster: each player is placed with the team he last played for, and kept if that game came in the team's final 30 days or he logged 500 minutes there. That drops waived players and expired 10-day deals but keeps regulars who got hurt late. A few players traded while injured never played for their new team and are placed by hand. The current season uses Basketball-Reference rosters as of Oct. 8, 2026, which include two-way contracts and training camp invites, so some players listed will not make opening-night rosters.
Tiers. Value is LEBRON above replacement (LEBRON + 2) times minutes, divided by 1,000. Past seasons grade each player on that season alone; the current season grades on the better of last season and 90% of the season before. Players are ranked twice among everyone with 500 minutes, once against the whole league and once within their position, and their tier comes from the average of the two percentiles. That balances how good a player is outright with how he stacks up at his position. The cutoffs follow league-wide proportions: Franchise is roughly the top 10 players in the league, Core the next 35, High-end starter the next 45, Starter / key reserve the next 90 and Rotation the next 90. Everyone else with 500 minutes is Roster / depth; anyone under 500 minutes is Outside rotation / developmental, which includes players who missed most of a season.
Positions. Each player is listed at the one position he was logged at in his grading season, so a player who covers two spots only appears at one. The drop-off and weakest-position notes read within those listings.
League average. Counts include every player under contract for 2026-27, Players without a position on file are listed below the ladder and counted as Outside rotation / developmental.
